Dr. Martus offers Neurofeedback and other services to clients throughout Wayne and Macomb County.
Neurofeedback, also known as EEG (electroencephalogram) biofeedback, is a non-chemical and non-invasive therapeutic intervention. Neurofeedback uses computer-based programs to analyze clients’ brainwave activity. It employs sound and/or visual cues to retrain signals the brain gives off. It delivers signals designed to slow down or speed up brain activity, depending upon the problems targeted.
Neurofeedback therapy works best when utilized consistently over a
period of time. Dr. Martus uses his training in neurofeedback and applies the knowledge gained from working with neurofeedback clients over the last several years to track progress, monitor responses and adjust treatments as needed. Your safety and comfort throughout the process is important, and Dr. Matt check in with you about this regularly.
Because it reorganizes the brain’s response to certain stimuli, neurofeedback can provide relief to clients struggling with certain mental health challenges. Clients who use neurofeedback report improvements with anxiety, depression, memory and attention, PTSD symptoms and other types of challenges. Clients also report improved mood, more restful sleep and a stronger sense of calm and relaxation.
Neurofeedback is usually used along with, not instead of, therapy. If you’d like to learn more about neurofeedback/EEG, contact Dr. Martus to discuss it as an option.
